My personal story

I am born and raised in Los Angeles. Here's my personal story. When I was younger, I suffered from bullying and a learning disability that made learning diffiult. I also was very depressed at a young age , and like most teens, suffered from identity crisis . I believe if there was a positive Role Model like me when I was a teen , It could've saved me from depression. Did you know based on CDC data in  2021 that 3 in 5 u.s. teen girls felt persistantly sad or hopeless !  This is one of the many reasons why I decided to advocate for Autism Awareness. According to the CDC, the average age for diagnosis for Autism is 4.5 years old, however,  women and girls are diagnosed way later in life. The most common age for females to be diagnosed ranges from 12 years old to 18, sometimes often well into adulthood. Why is this? According to the Psychiatric Association , the traits required for diagnosis are much accurate for men then they are women. I personally can attest to this being that I wasn't diagnosed until age 15. I faced many backlash and discrimination once people discovered my diagnosis. They started to think I'm less then , along with beliving my ability to succed in life is short limited. However , despite those naysayers, I decided to prove them wrong with each day I live. Because Autistic people can accomplish many things. We are smart. We are brave . We are greatness! My goal is to install that not onlinto the minds of Autistic people , but also non Autistic people. When neurotypicals see us, I want them to know the greatness we carry and what we can do, not always what we can't do. That is the change I wish to see!
